Little Bowtiques, as it was originally called, was founded in 1983 by a woman named Janie, and inspired by her daughter Dori. Having given her daughter such an unusual name, she searched high and low for personalized hair barrettes. Unable to find them, she began creating them herself. What started as one beaded 'Dori' barrette eventually evolved into thousands, which soon became a must-have item for many little girls in the 80's.

Now Dori herself is a mother-to daughter Samantha (and sons Jake & Daniel). And while she could find personalized items printed with Samantha's name, she could never find-what she felt was-the perfect bow. And so, like her mother Janie, Dori set out to make one for her daughter. Wherever she went people stopped to ask her where she bought Samantha's bows. And so she began making the bows for friends and local children's boutiques. She'd overhear people say to one another, "Is that a Dori bow?" And with that, Dori Bows was born.

With a passion for color and a meticulous attention to detail, Dori Bows exemplifies a clean, classic look perfect for every little girl.
